Mr. Upul Priyankara Dahanayake assumed duties as the new Divisional Secretary of the Thawalama Divisional Secretariat Division on 14.07.2025 amidst the blessings of the Venerable Maha Sangha and the chanting of Seth Pirith.Mr. Upul Priyankara Dahanayake assumed duties as the new Divisional Secretary of the Thawalama Divisional Secretariat Division on 14.07.2025 amidst the blessings of the Venerable Maha Sangha and the chanting of Seth Pirith.The Assistant Divisional Secretary, the Administrative Officer and other staff members were present on this occasion.



The permanent house constructed under the Samurdhi Ranvimana Housing Programme 2024 was handed over to Mr. Nihal Ratnasuriya, a resident of Panangala North Grama Niladhari Division in the Thawalama Divisional Secretariat Division, on 03.01.2025 under the patronage of Mrs. Niluka Suriyaarachchi, Thawalama Divisional Secretary.
This house was constructed with the assistance of the Social Development Assistant Officer of the Thawalama Samurdhi Community Finance Bank Society and the Panangala North Grama Niladhari, under the provisions of the Samurdhi Development Department and the Southern Provincial Social Services Department, as per the instructions and guidance of the Divisional Secretary.Thawalama Divisional Secretary Mrs. Niluka Suriyaachchi, Hiniduma Samurdhi Bank Manager, Samurdhi Development Officers, Panangala North Grama Niladhari, Economic Development Officers and other government officials and residents of the area joined for this occasion.








The distribution of equipment to the families affected by the adverse weather conditions in the Thawalama Division in the year 2025 was carried out under the patronage of Assistant Divisional Secretary Mrs. D.A.D. Madhubashini on 23.06.2025. Under this, equipment was distributed to selected families in Panangala East, Thalangalla and Weerapana South Divisions.

With the primary objective of providing efficient and effective public service, the commencement of duties for the new year 2025 was marked under the patronage of Thawalama Divisional Secretary Niluka L. Suriyaarachchi. After singing the national anthem, the public service pledge was administered in conjunction with the Clean Sri Lanka program. Thereafter, religious rituals were performed. All office bearers participated in this event.
